Mitsubishi Motors North America has announced the launch of the 2027 Eclipse Sportback, which will go on sale this October. The vehicle features a starting MSRP of $37 745, excluding a $1 995 destination charge. The model is available in a single, fully equipped trim level, with a $2 600 Technology Package offered as the only factory option.

The Eclipse Sportback shares its underlying hardware with the redesigned Nissan Leaf, including a 75-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery. Despite the shared platform, the base Nissan Leaf S+ is priced at $29 990, while the mid-grade SV+ costs $34 230 and the top-tier Platinum+ trim is priced at $38 990.

Regarding performance, the Eclipse Sportback offers an EPA-estimated range of up to 282 miles. In comparison, the base Nissan Leaf S+ provides up to 303 miles of range. The Eclipse Sportback supports DC fast charging up to 150 kilowatts, allowing for a 10 to 80 percent charge in approximately 35 minutes using a NACS port.

The use of Nissan's shared platform is part of Mitsubishi's broader strategy to introduce at least one new or refreshed model annually through fiscal year 2030. The company aims to leverage this collaboration as a shortcut to market, though the long-term viability of its single-trim pricing strategy remains to be seen.
