Mitsubishi is planning a mid-lifecycle update for the Triton pickup, which shares its ladder-frame architecture with the newly released Pajero SUV. The refresh for the truck is expected to arrive after 2028, aiming to maintain competitiveness against models like the Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux.

The exterior updates will likely focus on the front end, potentially incorporating design elements from the Pajero, such as T-shaped LED headlights and a revised skid plate. Rear changes are expected to be minimal, involving new LED taillight graphics and updated trim pieces.

Inside, the updated Triton may feature a larger infotainment display than the current 9-inch unit and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Mitsubishi is also considering new upholstery options and additional safety and comfort features for the cabin.

The powertrain lineup could be updated with a 2.4-liter diesel engine featuring a single wide-range variable geometry turbocharger. Furthermore, the company is developing hybrid and plug-in hybrid options for both the Triton and the Pajero, while a fully electric version of the truck has been delayed or canceled.
