Minisforum has launched the MS-01 SE, a budget-friendly iteration of its compact workstation. The barebone version is priced at $375. The device features an Intel Core i5-12600H processor with 12 cores and 16 threads, capable of reaching a maximum clock speed of 4.5 GHz.
The system supports up to 64 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM across two SO-DIMM slots. Unlike the original MS-01, this model uses DDR4 memory and lacks 10GbE networking, offering two 2.5GbE RJ-45 ports instead. It retains a PCIe 4.0 x16 slot, which operates in x4 mode for low-profile, single-slot graphics cards.
Storage options include three M.2 2280 slots with a maximum capacity of 12 TB. Connectivity features two USB4 ports, HDMI 2.0, and two USB-A 2.0 ports, supporting up to three simultaneous displays. Wireless capabilities are provided by a MediaTek MT7902 adapter, including Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.
The cooling system is designed to handle a processor TDP of 55–75 W and also manages heat for the RAM modules. A configuration with 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD is priced at $775. Shipments for the new Minisforum workstation are scheduled to begin in mid-October.
