Mini USA has introduced the 1998 GT Edition, a special model based on the entry-level Cooper C. The vehicle is part of the Icon Drops series for 2026, representing the sixth of eight planned releases.
The car features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 161 hp, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Despite the base-level powertrain, the model includes a sport-tuned chassis and upgraded brakes from the John Cooper Works division.
Exterior design elements include Midnight Black Metallic paint, orange stripes, 17-inch JCW wheels, and aerodynamic body components. The interior is equipped with JCW sport seats, a heated steering wheel, and specific 1998 GT branding.
The 2027 Mini 1998 GT Edition is priced at $36 875, excluding a $1 350 destination fee. This places the model above the Cooper S, which starts at $32 800, but below the JCW flagship at $38 900.
Reservations for the new special edition are currently open for the US market. The manufacturer has scheduled the first customer deliveries for the fall of 2026.
