Microsoft has updated the storage policy for its Microsoft 365 Family and Premium subscriptions. Previously, the plan allowed up to six members to have 1TB of OneDrive storage each, totaling 6TB. Under the new model, all members will share a single 2TB storage pool.

The company stated that this change is intended to increase flexibility for users. In the previous setup, individual users could not access unused storage from other members if they exceeded their 1TB limit. Now, a single user can utilize the entire 2TB capacity if needed.

The new policy will apply to all new and upgraded subscriptions starting October 8, 2026. Existing Microsoft 365 Family and Premium users will transition to the shared 2TB storage model upon their first subscription renewal on or after May 2, 2027.
