Microsoft VP Mark Linton stated at IFA 2026 in Berlin that the company is working to accelerate Windows 11 boot speeds and reduce memory usage. These optimizations are intended to ensure that PCs equipped with 8GB of RAM can operate smoothly.
Regarding AI integration, the company plans to minimize the interference of Copilot with the daily user experience. This includes reducing the number of of Copilot-related buttons and enhancing the performance of local AI operations.
Microsoft is also focusing on interface customization based on community feedback. Mark Linton noted that users can now once again place the taskbar on the left or top of the screen, though this differs from the Windows 10 feature that allowed free dragging and scaling of the start menu's dimensions.
