Users of Windows Server 2022 and Windows 10 have reported printer connectivity issues following the installation of Microsoft's September cumulative updates. The problems specifically affect remote desktop printing and shared printer connections.
The initial issue emerged after installing the KB5122882 update on Windows Server 2022. Subsequent attempts to resolve the situation with the emergency out-of-band update KB5129237 proved unsuccessful for affected users.
Similar connectivity failures were observed when Windows 10 machines attempted to access Dymo Type 3 printers shared by Windows 11 systems. However, Windows 11 clients accessing printers hosted by other Windows 11 devices remain unaffected.
The technical scope of the failure involves Type 3 or v3 user-mode printer drivers. This architecture, which operates in user mode, is commonly utilized for physical, virtual, and shared printing devices.
