Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella stated that the enterprise AI agent market is expected to surpass the cloud market by orders of magnitude. This outlook follows a fiscal year in which Azure revenue exceeded $100 billion, with growth driven by AI agent consumption on the Foundry platform.

By April 2026, Microsoft’s AI business reached an annual revenue run rate of $37 billion, marking a 123% increase compared to the previous year. Additionally, the number of customers consuming 1 trillion tokens annually has quadrupled, while the count of joint customers using Microsoft services grew by 60% year-over-year.

During the Microsoft Build 2026 event on June 2, the company introduced Project Solara, an agent-first computing platform developed with Qualcomm. The company is also deploying persistent agents through its OpenClaw framework, such as the Autopilot product, which operates continuously to monitor systems and execute tasks.

Microsoft leverages its integrated infrastructure, which includes Azure, AI models via its OpenAI partnership, and enterprise distribution channels like Office 365, Dynamics, and GitHub. The company continues to expand its ecosystem through development platforms like Foundry and Project Solara.
