Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella introduced an overhauled Copilot app on September 25, 2026. The platform is now structured around three main pillars: Home, Code, and Autopilot. The Home dashboard integrates Chat, Cowork tools, and access to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

The Code feature utilizes GitHub Copilot technology to provide natural language tools for building applications and workflows within a secure sandbox. Autopilot, formerly known as Scout, acts as a proactive agent capable of managing tasks autonomously with its own memory and workspace.

Microsoft is launching a private preview of these features at the end of September 2026, focusing initially on enterprise users. The company is shifting its business model toward usage-based billing and FinOps tools, treating Copilot as a metered utility rather than a standard subscription.

Nadella emphasized that AI agents represent a market potential significantly larger than cloud computing. He continues to advocate for human oversight in AI development and warns against the risks of model concentration, suggesting that organizations should maintain proprietary learning loops to protect their insights.
