Microsoft has released a fix for the Excel 2016 copy and paste issue. The update, identified as 5002665, was pushed to users on September 16 to address the malfunction introduced by the previous KB5002914 patch.

Users reported that the bug prevented them from copying, pasting, or selecting cells within the application. Some individuals also experienced a failure of the autofill feature after installing the problematic update.

The current fix is limited in scope. It applies only to versions of Office 2016 installed via the Microsoft Installer (.msi) method. The update does not cover Click-to-Run versions, such as Microsoft Office 365 Home.

The issue also affected other versions, including Excel 2024 LTSC Professional. However, Microsoft has not yet provided a specific repair patch for Office 2024 users following the initial reports of the bug.
