Microsoft is implementing the Biomimicry project to integrate its data centers into natural landscapes. The initiative involves restoring wetlands and planting local vegetation around facilities to help buildings blend into the environment.

The project is currently active at more than 20 sites. One example is the Fairwater data center in Mount Pleasant, which features over 40 hectares of prairies and forests. Additionally, the company has designed stormwater ponds with basins to manage sediment.

The initiative covers locations across the United States and Germany. Microsoft states that the project aims to protect nature and incorporate local ecological research, while also addressing feedback from residents living near the data centers.
