Microsoft has officially launched a public preview of its Defender security suite for the Linux platform. The release aims to provide enterprise-grade protection, integrating antivirus capabilities with endpoint detection and response (EDR) tools.
The software is compatible with several major Linux distributions, including RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian, SLES, Fedora, and Oracle Linux. To access these features, users must hold a Microsoft Defender Endpoint Plan 2 or a Microsoft 365 E5/E7 subscription.
The suite includes advanced security features such as threat analysis, real-time response, device isolation, and vulnerability management. Microsoft has designed the deployment process to be streamlined, offering a unified security operations experience across data centers and cloud environments.
