Microsoft has officially ended support for the Home and Pro editions of Windows 11 version 24H2, which was originally released in October 2024. These versions will no longer receive regular security updates, and the company has confirmed that no extended security update program will be available for these specific consumer editions.

The company advises users to upgrade to Windows 11 version 25H2, which is scheduled to receive support until October 13, 2027. In contrast, enterprise and education editions of Windows 11 24H2 remain unaffected by this change and will continue to receive security patches and technical support until October 12, 2027.

Additionally, Microsoft has discontinued support for several legacy products, including Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016 and Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSB 2016. Organizations using these versions are encouraged to migrate to newer LTSC releases, though paid extended security updates remain an option for those requiring more time for the transition.

The lifecycle for Office LTSC 2021 has also concluded. This includes the end of technical support and security patches for associated applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio. Users of these software suites will no longer receive vulnerability fixes or error corrections from the developer.
