Microsoft released emergency updates on September 15 to address Remote Desktop Service issues affecting Windows 10, Windows 11, and Windows Server. The update KB5129195 was specifically issued for Windows 11 versions 25H2 and 24H2, bringing the build numbers to 26200.9457 and 26100.9457 respectively.
However, users have reported new startup failures following the installation of KB5129195. An IT administrator noted on the administrator.de forum that affected devices remain stuck on the UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME 0xED error screen after a reboot. The issue impacts various hardware brands, including Dell and HP.
According to reports, there is no common configuration or software pattern among the affected machines that would explain the root cause. Some users have managed to restore their systems to a functional state by uninstalling the KB5129195 update.
