Microsoft has officially confirmed that the Surface Laptop Ultra features a Mini LED display equipped with local dimming technology. The backlight system of the device consists of 5,400 individual LEDs organized into 1,344 dimming zones.

Despite these technical specifications, the display has faced criticism from reviewers regarding its performance. Users and media outlets have reported issues such as motion blur, visible blooming, and insufficient contrast levels, leading some to initially question the presence of local dimming.

Microsoft acknowledged that the screen performance can be improved. The company is considering future firmware updates to address these display concerns. Previously, Microsoft released a major update to fix issues like screen flickering, long reboot times, and blue screen errors.
