Micron has announced record-breaking compensation for its Taiwan-based employees for the 2026 fiscal year. Bonuses range from 35 to 68 monthly salaries, with a minimum cash payout of TWD 1.7 million, equivalent to $53,800. This marks the largest payout in the company's history, affecting over 60,000 employees globally, with additional incentives specifically for the Taiwan division.
Staff in Taiwan hired before August 29, 2025, are eligible for an extra payment of TWD 1 million, or $31,700. Furthermore, all employees will receive annual stock-based compensation. For entry-level engineers, the total average package is set at TWD 3.4 million, or $108,000, consisting of TWD 2.9 million in cash and the remainder in equity.
Despite these financial incentives, labor tensions persist. Trade unions, representing approximately two-thirds of the 15,000 employees in Taiwan, are still preparing for a potential strike. Their primary demand is a new profit-sharing model where 15% of the company's operating profit would be allocated to employee bonuses. Negotiations regarding this structure have not yet reached a resolution.
