Micron announced the largest bonus package in its history, covering over 60,000 employees globally for the 2026 fiscal year. In Taiwan, eligible staff hired before August 29, 2025, will receive a one-time payment of TWD 1 million, with additional annual performance bonuses reaching up to 500% of the target base.

For manufacturing workers in Taiwan, total compensation for the 2026 fiscal year is expected to range between 35 and 68 months of salary. Cash payments start at TWD 1.7 million, while entry-level engineers are set to receive TWD 2.9 million in cash and TWD 3.4 million in total compensation including stock options.

The announcement follows rising labor tensions in Taiwan, where the first mediation session on September 4 failed to reach an agreement. A second session is scheduled for September 21. The local union criticizes the current Incentive Pay Plan, demanding more transparency and alignment with profit-sharing models used by competitors like Samsung and SK hynix.

Micron employs approximately 15,000 people in Taiwan and has invested over TWD 1.6 trillion in the region. The company is currently expanding production facilities in Taoyuan, Taichung, Tongluo, Miaoli, and Tainan to address memory shortages. This includes scaling up HBM production for AI accelerators, with plans to add 60,000 wafers per month by year-end.
