Meta has introduced Muse, an AI agent designed to manage tasks such as travel booking, shopping, and email management via WhatsApp. The agent operates on a dedicated virtual machine and can execute actions like filling out forms, negotiating prices, and adjusting schedules independently.
For payments, Muse integrates with Stripe's Link service, utilizing one-time cards to protect user data. Meta plans to add support for Shop Pay and 1Password. The system includes a security layer called Sentinel, which monitors the agent's internet activity and restricts its access to sensitive credentials.
Users maintain control over the agent's permissions, including the ability to revoke access to specific apps or request that the system delete learned data. Meta also plans to release Muse Confidential VM later this year, which will feature user-held encryption keys for the virtual machine.
The underlying model has seen performance improvements, with version 1.3 reaching 44 to 48 points on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index. Muse is currently launching in the US for iOS and Android, offering a free usage tier alongside subscription options for higher volume.
