Meta unveiled its new VR headset, Meta VR Glasses, at the Connect conference. The device weighs approximately 100 grams, which is five times lighter than the Meta Quest 3. It is scheduled for release in the spring of 2027 with a retail price of $1300.

The headset features a modular design where the glasses house the screen and sensors, while the processor, storage, and battery are located in a separate unit connected via optical cables. The device is powered by the Snapdragon Reality Elite chipset.

The display is a 5K Micro-OLED with a density of 37 pixels per degree, utilizing pancake lenses. It supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos spatial audio. The battery life is rated for up to three hours of video playback.

The system supports voice, eye, and gesture controls, integrated with a built-in AI agent. It is the first VR device to receive IMAX Enhanced certification. Users can access 3D movies via Disney+ and 8K sports broadcasts with a 180-degree field of view.

The platform supports multiple virtual screens and gesture-based controls for over 75 games. Additionally, the headset includes holographic calling features, allowing avatars to mimic the user's facial expressions and movements.
