Meta has reversed its decision to block paid advertisements for the documentary 'Musk', directed by Alex Gibney. The company admitted that the initial rejection of the film's trailer was an error. Previously, the distributor Bleecker Street faced rejections from Meta, TikTok, YouTube, and X, with most platforms citing 'political content' as the reason for the ban.

The documentary trailer features footage from 2024 US presidential election rallies and mentions the election at the end. Bleecker Street argued that these elements are part of the film's narrative and do not constitute political campaigning. While Meta has now approved the ads, the status of the appeals submitted to TikTok and YouTube remains pending.

The situation with X remains distinct, as the platform is owned by Elon Musk himself. X reportedly refused to accept the ads and did not engage in communication with the distributor regarding the matter. Furthermore, X has rejected promotional content for other upcoming films from Bleecker Street as well.

The film 'Musk' is scheduled for a US theatrical release on October 9, with Bleecker Street handling domestic distribution. The documentary, which runs for nearly four hours, premiered earlier this month at the Venice International Film Festival. It covers various aspects of Musk's life, including his business ventures and political activities.
