Meta has launched Muse, a personal AI agent designed to execute tasks directly rather than just answering questions. The agent connects to email, calendars, payments, health, smart home, shopping, music, and event services to handle tasks such as sending emails, booking travel, filling out forms, and converting recipe videos into shopping lists.
The service is initially available via web, iOS, Android, and WhatsApp, with plans to expand to Meta AI glasses. While the product is free to start, it will transition to paid subscriptions as usage increases, requiring a payment card to be linked upon activation.
Meta offers two paid tiers: Power at $20 per month and Maximum at $100 per month. The company believes most users will remain on the free tier. The agent is powered by the Muse Spark model and can connect to services via public APIs or through a browser if no API is available.
To address privacy concerns, Meta states that Muse operates within a separate secure virtual machine called Muse Secure VM. A separate agent named Sentinel operates in the same environment to ensure Muse cannot access user passwords or payment methods, and that data is not shared with advertising systems.
