Lionel Messi has reached a preliminary agreement to acquire 100% of the Spanish football club CD Eldense. The club competes in the Segunda División, the second tier of professional football in Spain. Messi will purchase the team from the Colombian investment group TH Soluciones Group S.A.S., which has owned the club since October 2025.

This acquisition is part of Messi's growing sports ownership portfolio. In April 2026, he acquired UE Cornellà, a fifth-tier Spanish side. The purchase of Eldense, founded in 1921, represents a move into professional status football ownership.

CD Eldense is based in Elda, a city in the Alicante province with a population of under 60,000. The club plays at the Estadio Municipal Nuevo Pepico Amat, which has a capacity of 5,776 seats and approximately 3,500 season-ticket holders.

Messi will be the sole investor and owner of the club, with no former Barcelona teammates involved in the deal. The transaction is currently undergoing due diligence and requires regulatory approval from Spain's High Council for Sports (CSD).
