In the third quarter of 2026, Mercedes-Benz Group sold 78,100 battery-electric vehicles (BEVs), marking a 52% increase year-over-year and a 24% rise from the second quarter. These sales comprised 68,400 passenger cars and 9,700 vans. Electric models now account for 16% of all global deliveries for the group.
The passenger car division reported 407,200 total sales, an 8% decline compared to the same period last year. Sales in China dropped by 31% to 86,800 units, while performance in other regions grew by 1%, driven by a 13% increase in Germany. Globally, electrified vehicles (xEVs), including plug-in hybrids, reached a 25% share of total sales.
Europe remains the primary market for BEVs, where nearly one in three Mercedes-Benz cars sold is fully electric. Sales of electric GLC, CLA, GLB, and GLA models have reached capacity in Europe for the remainder of the year, with order books extending into 2027. To meet this demand, production plants in Bremen, Rastatt, and Kecskemét are operating on three-shift schedules.
The Mercedes-Benz Vans division recorded 84,400 total sales, with a 11.5% global electric share. In Europe, the electric share for vans reached 15%. The company plans to boost future sales through the rollout of new models, including the electric C-Class, and the introduction of AI-powered cockpits and advanced driver assistance systems across its vehicle range.
