In 2027, vehicles from the 1997 model year will become eligible for Germany’s historic H-plate status. To qualify, a car must be at least 30 years old and pass a technical inspection under Section 23 of the Road Traffic Licensing Regulations.
Mercedes-Benz Classic manages approximately 160,000 genuine parts to support these vehicles. The company maintains a network of 3,000 authorized dealers across 170 countries, with many components available for delivery within 24 hours.
The 1997 Mercedes M-Class, A-Class, and CLK Coupe are among the models reaching this milestone. The M-Class (series 163) debuted in April 1997 in Alabama, while the A-Class (series 168) launched at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1997.
The A-Class faced a production halt in late 1997 following the moose test, with manufacturing resuming in February 1998. It became the first vehicle to feature the Electronic Stability Program as standard equipment.
Mercedes-Benz Classic provides a wide range of replacement parts for these series. Prices for M-Class components include €119.52 for an emblem and €24,831.10 for a V8 engine, while A-Class parts range from €42.63 to €7,000.21.
