Mercedes-AMG is preparing to launch its first electric SUV built on the proprietary AMG.EA platform. The model, codenamed X591, features a coupe-like silhouette, Y-shaped LED headlights, and circular taillights. The vehicle is equipped with large alloy wheels, high-performance brake discs, and yellow calipers.

The SUV utilizes an 800V electrical architecture and axial-flux motors developed by Yasa. The flagship version is expected to deliver up to 860kW of power and 2000Nm of torque, with a 0-100km/h acceleration time of approximately 2.5 seconds. A dual-motor variant with 600kW and 1800Nm is also anticipated.

The vehicle incorporates a 106kWh battery supporting DC fast charging up to 600kW, allowing for 460km of range in 10 minutes. The chassis includes the AMG Active Ride Control air suspension with semi-active roll stabilization and a rear-wheel steering system.

To replicate the driving experience of internal combustion engines, the SUV features the AMGFORCE S+ system, which simulates V8 engine sounds and gear shifts through internal and external speakers. The interior is expected to mirror the multi-screen layout of the AMG GT four-door coupe.

The official debut is scheduled for October 17 at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart. This date coincides with the 140th anniversary of the first patent application for a motor vehicle filed by Karl Benz.
