MercadoLibre is issuing dollar-denominated notes maturing in 2036. The initial spread for these securities is set at approximately 160 basis points above comparable U.S. Treasury bonds. This marks the company's third international bond offering, following previous issuances in 2021 and December 2025.
The company intends to use the capital to support its logistics network and its fintech division, Mercado Pago. In 2021, the firm raised $1.1 billion through bond sales to expand its electric delivery fleet and promote financial inclusion across Latin America.
In the second quarter, MercadoLibre reported a 50% year-over-year revenue increase, reaching $10.2 billion. Operations currently span Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, and 15 other nations. Despite revenue growth, the company noted a compression in margins due to ongoing strategic investments.
Management emphasizes a long-term growth strategy over short-term margin optimization. Recent initiatives include increasing shipping capacity, enhancing price competitiveness in Brazil, and expanding point-of-sale device distribution. CFO Martin de los Santos confirmed plans to continue bold investments.
