MegaFon has completed a network infrastructure upgrade in the northern part of the Nizhny Novgorod region, specifically in the towns of Uren, Shakhunya, and Varnavino. These areas, which house over 30,000 residents, have seen improvements in network coverage and a 30% increase in mobile internet speeds in certain locations.
The modernization project included the installation of additional high-frequency equipment at an existing base station in northern Shakhunya. Upgrades were also implemented in the village of Luzhayki, the settlement of Syava, western Uren, and the center of Varnavino, covering residential areas, schools, and medical facilities.
According to Alexey Mikhailov, director of MegaFon in the Nizhny Novgorod region, mobile internet speeds in the upgraded areas can now reach 50 Mbps. The company reports that the number of smart devices on its regional network has grown by 17% over the past year, with northern settlements showing the highest growth rates.
The operator states that it has built or modernized more than 600 base stations across the Nizhny Novgorod region since the beginning of the year. These infrastructure improvements are intended to support local residents and tourists in accessing digital services, navigation, and online communication tools.
