MegaFon has expanded its 4G network coverage to 52 rural settlements across 24 districts and municipal districts in the Orenburg region. This initiative, part of the federal program for eliminating digital inequality, provides over 15,000 residents with access to voice services and mobile internet.
The project focuses on small villages, including locations like Vasilyevka, which has about 100 residents, and others with populations under 250. Engineers deployed mid-range frequencies to achieve download speeds of up to 50 Mbps, enabling remote work, education, and high-quality video streaming.
According to MegaFon, mobile traffic consumption in rural areas of the Orenburg region has reached parity with urban centers. On average, rural users consume about 30 GB of data per month, with residents of remote, sparsely populated villages currently ranking as the highest data consumers.
