MediaTek has announced a product launch event for September 15 at 14:30. The company is expected to introduce the Dimensity 9600 series, which will include a standard version and a Dimensity 9600 Pro model.
The standard Dimensity 9600 will be built on TSMC's 3nm process, serving as an enhanced version of the Dimensity 9500 series. The Pro version will utilize TSMC's second-generation 2nm N2P process, marking MediaTek's first 2nm mobile chip. This 2nm process offers up to 18% higher performance at the same power consumption and reduces power consumption by approximately 36% compared to the N3E process.
The Dimensity 9600 Pro features a 2+3+3 all-big-core architecture, including two ARM C2-Ultra cores with clock speeds near 5GHz, three C2-Premium cores, and three C2-Pro cores. This is a significant increase from the 4.21GHz maximum clock speed of the previous Dimensity 9500. The chip integrates an ARM Mali-G2-Ultra-NX MC12 GPU, with some reports mentioning the Arm Magni GPU architecture supporting hardware-level ray tracing and game frame interpolation.
The Pro chip supports LPDDR6 memory and UFS 5.0 flash storage, with an NPU computing power of 200 TOPS. In Geekbench 6 benchmarks, the Dimensity 9600 Pro achieved a maximum single-core score of approximately 4,137 and a multi-core score of approximately 13,086.
The vivo X500 series and OPPO Find X10 series are expected to be the first to use these chips. The vivo X500 series, launching in late September, will feature the Dimensity 9600 Pro in high-end models and the standard Dimensity 9600 in standard models. The unit price of the Dimensity 9600 Pro is approximately $216.
