Meadow is a minimalist Android-based smartphone designed to supplement, rather than replace, a user's primary device. The compact, square-shaped phone supports essential applications including Maps, Strava, Uber, Apple Music, and Spotify, alongside native tools for calling, texting, and ticket scanning.
The device requires a separate subscription plan and a new phone number. It features a rear camera with a built-in mirror for selfies, but photos are only accessible via the companion Meadow app on a primary smartphone. The hardware also supports Bluetooth and wired headphones via a USB-C adapter.
Founder Shreyas Narlanka, who previously sold his startup Scoutapp AI to StockX, launched Meadow as his first hardware venture. The company secured funding in December 2024 in a round led by Alana Goyal of basecase capital, with participation from several angel investors including Eros Resmini and Guillermo Rauch.
The startup has begun shipping its first bulk batch to pre-order customers. While the device is intended to help users disconnect from social media and constant browsing, it maintains connectivity for urgent communications. Narlanka notes that early software bugs, such as ride-tracking glitches, have been addressed.
