McLaren is reportedly planning to discontinue the Artura hybrid supercar in 2028, six years after its initial market launch. The model faced significant challenges during its rollout, including multiple delays and quality issues that forced the company to temporarily halt deliveries in 2022.
Former CEO Michael Leiters previously acknowledged that the vehicle lacked maturity at the time of its release, leading to a temporary reduction in production to zero units per day to address technical problems. The company has not officially confirmed the reported retirement date for the model.
The manufacturer is currently developing a new hybrid coupe, internally codenamed P34, scheduled for release in 2027. This successor is expected to feature an electrified powertrain based on a twin-turbo V6 engine with a combined output exceeding 800 hp, surpassing the 671 hp of the Artura.
Under the leadership of CEO Nick Collins, McLaren is restructuring its product lineup. Future plans reportedly include the introduction of an SUV and a front-engine gran tourer, which is intended to serve as a replacement for the current GTS model.
