Mate Rimac has finalized the acquisition of Porsche’s stakes in the Rimac Group and the Bugatti Rimac joint venture. The transaction, which took over 18 months to negotiate, marks the complete exit of the Volkswagen Group from the ownership of the Bugatti brand.

Porsche sold its 21 percent stake in the Rimac Group and its 45 percent share in the Bugatti Rimac joint venture. The deal generated €1 billion for Porsche, with €250 million of that amount earmarked for pension obligations.

The purchase was executed by a consortium of investors, including HOF Capital and BlueFive Capital. Following the transition, Mate Rimac will assume the role of president of Bugatti, while Marko Brkljačić replaces Christophe Piochen as the new COO of Bugatti Rimac.
