Mastercard has expanded its Apple Pay integration in mainland China by adding three new banking partners. Users can now link Mastercard credit cards issued by Bank of Communications, Postal Savings Bank of China, and Industrial Bank to their Apple devices.
This update allows customers to make payments abroad using an iPhone or Apple Watch without needing a physical card. Mastercard is also offering promotional incentives, including a cashback of up to $5 for initial linking and spending, and a chance to win rewards for completing 10 overseas transactions.
Additional benefits for users include potential waivers on overseas transportation costs and up to 50% cashback at selected global merchants. This move follows a broader trend of international card networks integrating with Apple Pay for Chinese cardholders, which began with Visa in early 2026.
Mastercard previously launched its initial Apple Pay support in China in April 2026, partnering with institutions such as Agricultural Bank of China, Bank of China, CITIC Bank, and SPD Bank. These services are primarily designed for international and cross-border payment scenarios.
