SoFi Bank is transitioning its entire card program, valued at $25 billion, to stablecoin-based transaction settlement. The initiative utilizes SoFiUSD, a dollar-backed stablecoin issued by the bank, integrated with the global payment infrastructure of Mastercard.
Through the Big Business Banking platform, merchants gain the ability to receive settlement funds instantly into their SoFi Bank accounts. This system allows for 24/7 cash withdrawals at no additional cost, leveraging blockchain technology while maintaining traditional banking safeguards.
Mastercard and SoFi are currently evaluating further applications for this technology, including cross-border payments and remittance services. SoFi is also in discussions with major U.S. merchants to implement stablecoin-based settlement arrangements.
The collaboration follows a March announcement regarding the integration of SoFiUSD into the Mastercard network. SoFi launched its stablecoin in December 2025, noting that its operation on a public blockchain enables near-instant settlement at fractional-cent costs.
Mastercard is actively expanding its digital asset infrastructure by embedding stablecoin orchestration and white-label wallet capabilities into its payment stack. The company is working with a growing ecosystem of banks, fintech firms, and stablecoin issuers.
