Mara Holdings clarified that a recent on-chain transaction of 1,292 BTC, valued at approximately $98.6 million, was a loan repayment rather than a new acquisition. The company's VP of Investor Relations, Robert Samuels, confirmed that no new Bitcoin was purchased.

The assets were returned from FalconX, a counterparty to which the firm had previously loaned the coins. Automated analytics tools incorrectly identified the incoming transfer as a treasury addition, a situation that also occurred in June 2026 regarding a 1,000 BTC transaction.

As of June 30, 2026, the company held 35,577 BTC, with 9,270 BTC currently serving as collateral for outstanding loans. During the first half of 2026, the firm sold between 20,880 and 23,093 BTC, generating proceeds between $1.5 billion and $1.63 billion.

The proceeds from these sales were allocated to debt reduction, balance sheet strengthening, and investments in artificial intelligence and high-performance computing infrastructure.
