Astra Linux supports two primary methods for RDP connections: the standard xrdp package and the fly-dm-rdp utility. The xrdp package, available in both Special and Common editions, initiates a separate session on TCP ports 3389 and 3350, preventing access to an already active desktop session. Users must select the Xorg session type during login.

Introduced in Special Edition versions 1.7.6 and 1.8, the fly-dm-rdp package enables a Local RDP session type. This approach allows users to connect remotely to the same session currently visible on the monitor, locking the local input while maintaining the active desktop state. Astra Linux currently recommends this method for remote access.

Troubleshooting RDP connectivity in Astra Linux involves verifying that the xrdp and xrdp-sesman services are active and listening on their respective ports. Administrators should examine logs in /var/log/xrdp.log and /var/log/xrdp-sesman.log. Additionally, mandatory access control levels, ranging from 0 to 255, may restrict network connections if the session level is set above zero.

Configuration issues often arise from user group restrictions defined in /etc/xrdp/sesman.ini or specific security policies. In Special Edition, screen captures are disabled by default and require configuration in /etc/X11/trusted. Furthermore, manual installation of deb packages from external sources may fail due to the system's closed software environment or library version mismatches.
