The High Court of Kuala Lumpur has ruled that the Malaysian government will retain approximately 321.64 BTC seized from the Bitkingdom investment scam. This portion is valued at roughly $26.2 million at current market prices.
Authorities originally confiscated 497.82 BTC linked to the fraudulent scheme. Following a court order issued on October 12, 2026, nine claimants who proved their losses received a total of 176.18 BTC, which represents less than half of their initial deposits.
The court's decision follows a December 23, 2025, ruling that classified the assets as proceeds of illegal activity. While 207 individuals reported total losses of nearly 1,023 BTC, only nine victims participated in the proceedings to secure partial restitution.
The Bitkingdom scheme, which operated in 2015 and 2016, promised daily returns of about 1%. Because the total amount recovered by authorities was less than the total losses reported, the court applied a proportional distribution formula for the claimants.
