European patent operator Tulip Licensing Ltd launched the Tulip Imaging program on September 10. The initiative aggregates intellectual property from four major industry players: OPPO, Huawei, Canon, and Sony. The portfolio includes over 125,000 patents developed by these companies over several decades.

The program focuses on core imaging technologies designed to improve visual experiences in electronic devices. These patents cover applications ranging from high-fidelity digital commerce to social interaction tools. Licensees can access the portfolio and customize the scope of their agreements based on specific business requirements.

Industry experts suggest that consolidating these assets into a single platform reduces transaction costs for implementers. By streamlining the negotiation process, the platform provides a more predictable path for companies seeking to license imaging technology from these four market leaders.

As of June 30, 2026, OPPO has filed over 125,000 global patent applications, with more than 69,000 granted. This total includes approximately 6,000 active imaging patents worldwide. In 2025, the company ranked seventh globally in terms of Chinese invention patent grants.
