Magnit has officially established a dedicated business unit focused on financial technologies. The new division will oversee the development of payment services, including the Magnit Pay platform launched earlier in 2026, and manage a portfolio of partner financial products.
Alexey Kalinogorsky has been appointed as the director of the new fintech unit. He joined Magnit in December 2024 and has led the company's fintech initiatives since September 2025. His professional background includes senior roles at Gazprombank, McKinsey & Company, and Boston Consulting Group.
The fintech division aims to integrate financial tools into the retailer's core operations to drive growth and create new revenue streams. Currently, Magnit Pay serves over 400,000 active users, and the company has reported a significant increase in payments processed via the Faster Payments System (SBP).
The leadership team for the new unit includes Alexander Stryzhkov as director of transactional products and Aydar Karimov as director of credit products. Alexander Piskunov will lead the development of fintech information systems, while Arseny Filin has been appointed as the head of fintech analytics.
