The automotive platform Dongchedi reported that the brake pedal bracket of the Maextro V800 fractured during three separate 100 km/h to 0 emergency braking tests. Dongchedi clarified that the tests were standard procedures rather than extreme conditions. The platform addressed rumors regarding a 4589N pedal force reading, stating it was a visual artifact caused by camera frame rate mismatch, while the actual peak force was 1612N.
Maextro responded by stating that its braking systems are developed and validated according to standards exceeding national and industry requirements. The company noted that no such failures have been reported by customers since the first deliveries. Despite this, Maextro announced plans to optimize the component design and offer a free upgrade to existing owners to ensure higher safety margins.
Following the test results, JAC Motors, the manufacturer, confirmed it is investigating the incident. The company's stock price hit the daily limit down amid the public discussion. Huawei, through its Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance stores, indicated that it plans to conduct a joint re-evaluation with JAC and publish the findings. Meanwhile, the delivery schedule for the vehicles remains unchanged.
