Lucid has issued a recall for 27,185 Lucid Air vehicles manufactured between 2022 and 2026 due to a potential fire risk. The issue stems from an electronic fuse system that failed to properly protect exterior LED lighting circuits from overcurrent, leading to potential overheating.
The company addressed the defect through a software update, version 2.10.0, which was released in July. This update modifies how the vehicle manages amperage to the lighting circuits and prevents the system from repeatedly attempting to re-energize lights if a fault is detected.
As of August 20, 20,719 of the affected vehicles had already received the software patch, while 6,466 vehicles remained to be updated. Lucid has recorded three fire incidents, four smoke-related events, and 33 warranty reports involving wiring harness damage linked to this issue.
Although the recall notice advises owners to park their vehicles outside until the update is installed, the fix is delivered over-the-air. Owners who have not yet updated their software are expected to receive formal recall notifications by mail in October.
