Lucid Motors and European mobility platform Bolt have announced a partnership to develop autonomous vehicles for the European market. Bolt aims to deploy at least 25,000 fully autonomous cars based on Lucid's upcoming mid-size electric vehicle architecture.

The companies plan to collaborate on an autonomous driving system-ready platform from the product-development stage. These vehicles will utilize Nvidia's Hyperion compute and sensing architecture, though the specific provider for the autonomous driving software remains undisclosed.

The announcement follows a restructuring at Lucid Motors under CEO Silvio Napoli, which included a 20% workforce reduction and a delay in the mid-size platform launch to the second half of 2027. Currently, no money has been exchanged, and Bolt has not placed a firm order.

Bolt intends to own and operate the fleet, aiming to reach 100,000 autonomous vehicles on its platform by 2035. Meanwhile, Lucid continues working with Uber and Nuro to launch a robotaxi version of its Gravity SUV, which is expected by the end of 2026.
