Russian developer LP Stream has launched Loudplay VDI, a platform for managing virtual desktops based on its proprietary high-performance protocol. The architecture separates the control plane from the data plane, which aims to reduce server load and improve security.
The platform supports various virtualization environments, including KVM, OpenStack, Proxmox VE, zVirt, and VMware vSphere. It allows for the use of both Windows and Russian operating systems like Astra Linux, Red OS, and Alt.
Loudplay VDI is designed for both standard office tasks and GPU-intensive engineering workloads. It includes features such as automated scaling, maintenance modes without session interruption, and integration with AD/LDAP for user management.
The core protocol was tested against Citrix HDX in 2024. It supports operation with network latencies up to 200 ms and packet losses of 30–40 percent. The system provides a bitrate range from 100 kbit/s to 30 Mbit/s with server-side latency of 6 ms.
Security features include two-factor authentication, clipboard and USB device policies, and the ability to operate in isolated environments without internet access. The platform is available through official partners and distributors.
