Loongson Technology chairman Hu Weiwu announced that the 9A1000 graphics card is scheduled for release in the first half of next year. The final retail price will depend on the cost of LPDDR4 memory. The 9A1000 serves as both a GPU and an AI accelerator, offering 40 TOPS of AI computing power. It is designed to compete with the AMD RX 550 in open markets, provided that Windows driver compatibility is successfully achieved.
The 9A1000 features a 25% increase in clock speed and a 5-fold performance boost compared to the 2K3000. It includes a 20% reduction in stream processor area and a 70% decrease in light-load power consumption. The GPU supports OpenGL 4.0 and OpenGL ES 3.2 APIs. Development is currently underway for the sixth-generation high-performance CPU core, which will be integrated into the successor of the Loongson 7000 series.
Loongson is working on a system integration involving the 3B6600, 7A3000, and 9A1000, with internal testing expected to take an additional 3 to 6 months after the 3B6600 chip returns. Furthermore, the company has established a dedicated team in Shenzhen to adapt the LoongArch architecture for Android and OpenHarmony. Current efforts focus on industrial tablets and commercial display terminals rather than consumer smartphones.
