The author of the Monitors Unboxed channel released a new report on the condition of an MSI MPG 321URX monitor featuring a third-generation QD-OLED panel. The device has been in use for 30 months, with the owner conducting tests every six months.
The monitor was subjected to intensive daily usage, running for 8 to 12 hours. The testing involved working in identical applications, which creates a static load that is generally considered unsuitable for OLED display technology.
After 30 months of operation, no catastrophic degradation was observed. The primary artifact is a vertical line in the center of the screen, caused by the frequent practice of placing two application windows side by side.
The author notes that this line is now visible against uniform backgrounds during regular use. However, the progression of the burn-in remains gradual, and the monitor remains fully functional for daily tasks.
The report concludes that users who avoid static content and use the display for mixed activities, such as gaming or watching movies, should experience significantly less burn-in over a similar period.
