Developer RetiredLake has released an unofficial application called LiveDrop for Windows 10 Mobile devices. The tool enables Windows Phone users to utilize Google's Quick Share protocol to transfer files directly to nearby Android devices and Windows PCs without relying on cloud services.

Users can sideload the application and initiate file transfers either directly from the app or through the system's native share menu. The software allows switching between Google's Quick Share and Microsoft's Nearby Sharing protocols, though the developer advises against using the latter.

Testing confirmed that files can be sent from a Lumia 950 to devices such as a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Windows PCs. For successful discovery, the receiving device must have its visibility set to 'Everyone'. The developer noted that occasional issues with device name detection may occur.

Currently, the application supports one-way transfers only. Windows Phone devices do not appear in the Quick Share lists of other hardware, preventing incoming file transfers. RetiredLake has confirmed that a fix for this limitation is currently under development.
