The Litecoin Foundation has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Greywick Digital to launch cLTC, a tokenized version of Litecoin designed for institutional finance. The agreement, signed on October 1, 2026, aims to facilitate trading of the asset within the Canton Network ecosystem.

Under the proposed model, actual Litecoin will be held in reserve while the cLTC token circulates on the Canton blockchain. Greywick Digital will manage the token issuance and coordinate independent third-party attestations to verify the underlying reserves.

The Canton Network is a public blockchain platform tailored for institutional use, currently supporting participants such as Goldman Sachs, DTCC, and BNP Paribas. It provides features like programmable privacy and support for tokenized real-world assets.

The launch of cLTC on the Canton mainnet is scheduled for late 2026. This timeline depends on the successful completion of testnet validations and the publication of public reserve disclosures. Since its inception in 2011, the Litecoin network has processed over 417 million transactions.
