The evaluation utilized an AMD EPYC 9455P 48-core server based on a Supermicro H13SSL-N build. The system was equipped with 12 modules of 64GB DDR5-6400 memory and a Samsung MZWLO3T8HCLS PM1745 PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD.

The tests compared the performance of Linux 7.2 stable and Linux 7.3-rc1 kernels. Both kernels were compiled using the GCC 15.2 compiler with identical configurations, utilizing default settings for all new Linux 7.3 Kconfig additions.

The server ran Ubuntu 26.04 LTS. Early results indicate performance improvements on the 5th Gen AMD EPYC server, with specific gains noted in Btrfs file-system performance compared to Linux 7.2.
