CEO Vlad Novakovski stated at Korea Blockchain Week 2026 that fixed income markets represent a significant growth opportunity for decentralized finance. The platform, which launched in 2025, aims to expand beyond crypto-only offerings by integrating traditional financial assets.

In August 2026, Lighter introduced a perpetual contract for the 10-year US Treasury, allowing users to trade interest rate views with up to 20x leverage. The exchange utilizes a custom ZK-rollup on Ethereum and a central limit order book model to facilitate trading.

The platform currently supports over 190 markets, including commodities, equities, and crypto pairs. Leverage limits are set at 50x for crypto assets and 20x for real-world assets. Daily trading volumes on the exchange range from $1.4 billion to $1.7 billion.

Lighter secured $68 million in a November 2025 funding round, reaching a valuation of approximately $1.5 billion. Key investors in the company include Founders Fund and Ribbit Capital.
