Lidl GB has reduced the rapid charging rate for Lidl Plus app users from £0.62 to £0.59 per kWh. The company estimates that this lower tariff can save drivers approximately £4.41 per session compared to the market average, potentially totaling £529 annually for frequent users.

The retailer is investing £10 million into its national charging network during the current financial year. This investment includes the installation of approximately 100 new rapid chargers at existing stores, focusing on locations that currently lack charging infrastructure.

Lidl also plans to equip the majority of its newly constructed stores with rapid chargers as part of its growth strategy. The company manages its own charging points without relying on third-party operators.

The network expansion is part of a long-term effort. In 2019, Lidl announced a £25 million investment to install fast chargers at over 300 stores, whereas only 40 stores had chargers at that time. Currently, about one-third of Lidl GB stores provide rapid charging services.
